Flyer Design

Overview

The flyer design project is an introductory graphic design project developed to introduce students to the principles of design, color psychology, color theory, and desktop publishing software. As with other design projects completed in class, students will follow the design process to complete this project. After developing a problem statement for this project, students will complete a number of guided research exercises; including a few tutorials to introduce them to the software we will be using: PagePlus. After research and tutorials have been completed, students will move on to brainstorming. All design projects in Tech Ed require a minimum number of possible ideas to be sketched. One will be selected and a clean drawing will be created. From there students move on to actually creating the design. Completed files will be submitted through Google Classroom and will be printed after the due date. The final step is to complete a design analysis, which again, will be located in Google Classroom. This project affords students the opportunity to select an actual event within the school and create an informational flyer that could be posted around the school and shared with parents and staff. The design brief and the grading rubric for this project can be viewed below. Additionally, some research information has been compiled on this site.
