Tic-Tac-Toe Game

Overview

The tic-tac-toe game is designed to be an introduction to basic hand tools and machines in the production lab. After completing measuring and safety units, students will begin this project. They will use basic hand tools such as the crosscut saw, back saw, scratch awl, and file, as well as the drill press to complete this project. After all parts have been made and sanded, students will apply a polyurethane finish and then assemble the game. Marbles are used as the X's and O's. The game fits well into the short amount of time allotted to finish the project. The technical drawing and rubric are located below. Also, to see common sanding and finishing issues, click here.

Errors Caused By Not Following Directions

Drilling too deep with a forstner bit will cause problems. On the left, the bit got stuck in the wood and had to be forced out. On the right, the bit got stuck and split the entire project in half.
