Architectural Design

Overview

The architectural design project builds off of the house design project students complete in sixth grade. All of the projects in the eighth grade class will provide a glimpse of Technology & Engineering Education courses offered at the high school level. The Advanced CADD course is an architectural design class. This project allows students to be creative in their design while still meeting criteria and constraints specified in the design brief. Students have a choice between two different challenges - designing a ranch-style home or a tiny house. The images below are examples of a projects created using Planner5d, the program we will use for this project in class. The top picture is a "Snapshot" of the kitchen. The lower pictures are the two dimensional models of the first and second floors of the same house. This is a free application offered by Planner5d (it can be upgraded to a paid plan). Follow this link if you are interested in learning more. The design brief for this project can be viewed below.
