Year 5/6 Camp

Walt: Make Connections across a range of texts.

Instructions:

1. Use the school blog page to help you locate blogs from year 5/6 students who went to camp this year.

2. Choose one student from Classes (6-10) and read their blog post from last week at camp. Be sure that no one else has left that student a comment yet!

3. After reading their post, leave them a "quality" blog comment as discussed in class.

4. Then, use this doc to help you record the blogs you have read.

5. Post your own blog comment as discussed on the doc above.

4. Discuss the emotions found in the text with Mrs. Moala. Spend some time as a group creating a Word Wall to help us further understand different words to explain emotions that we feel everyday.

5. Watch the movie from this year's NZ Iron Man race, and complete this emotions task.

6. Read the blog posts, "Meet the Team" and "Race Day." Feel free to leave comments for the team from last year. Don't forget to ask any questions you may have.

Reading a Boat

1. Check out the Auckland Ferry Services link below. Using Google Draw, create a poster advertising the Auckland Ferry Service. Be sure to consider what information from the site should be included on your poster. When finished, post your poster and a short paragraph on your blog.

2. As a group, use an iPad (check one out with Mrs. Moala) take pictures of posters around our school and make a Google Presentation showing each sign. Be sure to include why you think that each sign is important.

Taupō

Begin by reading the story again on your own or with a friend.

2. Read "Taupō" with Mrs. Moala and your reading group.

3. The Taupō volcano is a well-known tourist attraction in NZ. Take some time looking over the fact sheet to help you complete this docbefore beginning your info poster about this gorgeous lake that caused one of the world's largest eruptions.
