Instructions:

This week we are going to look at a number of different texts in order to find and then present how to Get Thru a volcanic eruption.

2. Read and view the texts in order from 1-4 as directed by your teacher.

3. Make a copy of the presentation: Get Thru - Volcanic Eruption: Ideas Chart. After each text add to your chart information which you have learned.

3. After reading all texts and completing your ideas chart make a copy and complete a Radio Interview: Get Thru - Volcanic Eruption. Use the information you have learned and your ideas chart to complete this final task.

4. Post both presentations to your blog to teach people about how to prepare and what to do during a volcanic eruption.

Time Capsules: Pompeii and Herculaneum

Instructions:

2. Make a copy and file the facts poster about Mt Vesuvius. Then use google to find free to use images and research some other information to complete the task. Post it to your blog when completed.

3. After learning new information in your reading your task is to share about the people of Pompeii. What happened to them and how they are preserved today. Open, make a copy and complete the drawing, The People of Pompeii

Rūamoko rages

Walt: find and present information from a text.

Instructions:

1. Read the text Ruamoki Rages carefully with your teacher.

2. Make a copy of the drawing: Volcano Vocabulary Challenge

Put it into your Reading folder.

Use the book to help you but try to write the definitions in your own words.

Add to your blow with the WALT and a sentence about what you have been reading.

3. Pick one of the words from your Volcano Vocabulary Challenge to make a quiz with. First make a copy of the Mystery Word Quiz presentation. Then follow the instructions on the slides to create your own mystery word quiz. Remember the definition of the word must be in your own words.

Publish the presentation to your blog and add your Walt.

4. Google Mapping New Zealand Volcanoes. First open the instruction doc then follow the instructions to make your own labeled Google map. Here is an example: Auckland's Volcanoes

Living with a volcano

Walt: follow instructions and complete tasks to a high standard.

Walt: compare different sides of an issue.

Instructions:

1. Read your text carefully with your teacher.

Put it into your Reading folder and add to the learning log.

Use the text to write down some positives and negatives of living near a volcano.

Post this presentation to your blog after you have shown your teacher.

Put it into your Reading folder and add to the learning log.

With a buddy fill in the missing gaps for the interview.

Record your interview with your buddy using Online Voice Recorder

Post the interview on your and your partners blogs.

Add the WALT and a sentence explain what the interview is about.
