I was on this stinky and very dirty carriage, but not like the princess carriages that princesses like me ride but the ones that look like a box and is a box!
¨Oh, hi,¨ I say to this boy ¨Do you know where the toilet is?¨
¨There is none.¨ he said politely.,
¨Umm, what do you mean?!¨ I replied
¨You have to go in that corner.¨ he said as he pointed to a disgusting corner!
¨Ew! I am not going in that!¨ I say disgusted, Then he asks if i want to jump! I honestly didnt know what he meant but i said yes anyway!
A little girl says ¨We jump in 3,2,1, JUMP!!!¨, We landed safely, well at least most of us. ¨AHHH¨ I said as i looked next to me, ¨I grazed my wrist!!!¨
The boy next to me said ¨Your carrying on about your wrist being grazed, when the girl next to you is dead!¨ and I think this is ridiculous! He is saying…that…I…dont…matter!
¨You will be hearing from my lawyers!¨ I shout at him.
¨SHHH!¨ The boy whispers and i wonder why but then i know why. Gunshots. Thats all I can hear. It makes my ears ring. Then he says we have to run and hide. So, I listen. I run.
This is my story based on the book Grace by Morris Gleitzman.

It was a Saturday morning and I was playing with my ball in the first backyard because Daddy said I had to but then it went into the other people's yard! Now these people are ¨special¨ Daddy says and they don't like us, Daddy never said why they were ¨special¨ or why they don't like us, maybe it is because they dont have millions of dollars like us! I feel bad for them, but whatever! So I unlocked the gate and waltzed on in and then they groped and stared, ¨Uhhh, that's my ball¨ I say ¨and I want it back, so give it!¨
but they didn't respond until this old man said
¨ It's a devil! Pray to God everyone, that we are not influenced by her sins!¨ and I was offended
¨Ill have you know I am not a devil! Don't you know who my dad is? I'll call my lawyers¨
¨But see you don't belong here,¨ says a girl about my age ¨take the ball and run!¨ she says as she hands me my ball.
¨Grace, you're a sinner!¨ the old man screamed. Grace, that was my mothers name, my mother dided in a school shooting when i was little. It was tragic.
Then my sister Ava and I faced the most treacherous thing, my parents were gone! Out of sight! My sister and I were searching everywhere for hours but we were out of luck! The reason this is so bad is because my family is Jewish and Adolf hitler and the Nazis, whoever they are, are out and searching for Jews and taking them away to camps, which I think is fun but Ava thinks to seem otherwise.

Imagine you have one of the best friends in the world, you would always have so much fun every day but then she slowly stopped coming to school. When she does come to school all she does is sit in the corner, not talking to anyone. You lose contact with her after a while and then drift apart. This is all mental illness's fault, she thought she wasn't good enough for you. This is why we need to raise more awareness of mental illnesses, in schools especially.
Did you know that most lifelong diseases are caused by mental illness? I know it's crazy, but it's true! You can get diabetes, heart disease, stroke and permanent brain damage just from mental illness. Raising more awareness will help people cope better with mental illness, and I have a way we can do this in school. We could have lessons on it once a week in 5/6 classes, have people talk about it every 2 weeks at assembly. They could talk about the ways we can cope, help other people to cope and also the way it impacts people. Also, the fewer people who have mental illness the fewer who have life-long disease.
Raising awareness in schools would dramatically lower suicide rates amongst young people. You would not believe how many people out of our 8 billion commit suicide each year! 1 million. That's too many people and half of them are because of mental illness. That’s 500,000 people! Also if you have a mental illness talking openly about it can help decrease negative thoughts which lead to suicide. If you have a loved one that attempts suicide it can be a sign of a mental illness so talking to them about what's going on with them could really help. If we have more programs on it in schools you can learn the skill to speak to these people.
Do you notice how many people are absent from your school and class? That could be because of mental illness, in Victoria 11,825 students were absent in 2021 at some point, that is so many students that are missing out on some of their education. When having a mental illness you can be in a bad mood and be more emotional which might make you not want to go to school. Kids get better grades by listening and attending class more and mental illness doesn't help at all. It does the opposite of that! When kids feel like they are understood they will want to come to school which these programs will do just that.
Mental illnesses are horrible so why not do as much as we can to stop it all together! Oliver, you can't afford to not do this in your school so if you listen and apply these things that I have listed you will have many students not getting the education they need.
