My foot gives way beneath me and I grab Zelda’s sleeve as I feel myself falling backwards. Branches scratch my cheeks as we tumble down the slope. At the bottom rocks dig into my body as I lie in the soft grass. Zelda grunts and shoves at me from underneath. I roll to the side so I dont squash her. I hear voices in the trees and slap my hand over my mouth. She bats it away but I hold tight.
“Zelda,” I whisper, pointing in the direction of the voices.
Eyes wide she glares at me and slaps my hand off her mouth.
“I heard them” she whisper yells “don’t you know anything?”
Leaves crunch and a sticks crack underneath them as they move up the hill. I release my breath, look up and before us stand two children. Older than me. Two boys. Brown socks pulled up past their knees and shoes polished so hard they shine. My eyes move up past their uniform to the rifles right beside the swastika badge sewn on their left shoulder.
“Well where did you two come from?” says the closest one.
“From the hill, obviously,” states Zelda.
“Is that so?” he replies “And what are you doing all the way out here? The only thing that passes through here is the train line”
Zelda rams her lips together and says nothing. My tongue is thick, it feels like its glued to the top of my mouth. Words stuck in my throat.
“And the trains are full of dirty jews” he continues.
“Their not dirty!!” yells Zelda. Straight away she smacks her hand over her mouth. The two boys shoot a dirty glare at Zelda. I look at Zelda then at the boys.
“Excuse me little girl? What?” says one of the boys. His shoulders were broad and he was a little chubby.
“Hahahahah” I laugh. “Sorry about that! My little sister was joking! She does that a lot!!” I say. I give a small smile and i nudge Zelda indicating for her to do the same. The larger boy slowly placed his hand on his rifle. Zelda grabs my hand and steps back a little. I look at the two kids, standing there. The smaller boy looked over to his friend and instantly gives a worried look. Was he going to help us? Or was he just triking us? Either way we were most likely dead. My eyes dart around the forset looking for an escape. Nothing. Then I have an idea. I look over to Zelda and give her a wink, she nods. “Im so so sorry, but out mother is going to be getting worried. We must be getting home!” I stutter. “Not so fast you two…” says the tall one who is at this point holding his rifle. I have a bad feeling about this…
Did you know thars 73% of students say they get bored during school hours and 56% of kids say they reckon there should be at tec club at school. If you ask me, i’d say thats quite a lot! Technology has been proven in some cases to lower stress levels in children. Technology clubs at school would help a student have the ability to consecrate more in class.
Lots of children wander around the yard at their schools all alone. They sit down, then stand up, walk around in circles, wondering what to do, how to make friends, wondering what their doing wrong. Children who don’t have anyone to play with at break times are more likely to develop depression at a young age. They could experience isolation, poor resilience and reduced self control. It also increases the risk of mental health problems in adulthood.
Research shows that if children have good friends that they relate to and a friendly relation ship with their peers they usually are more likely to have a better academic outcome at school and later in life. Over 50% of successful men and women say they had a great ideal friend group as kids. If there was a tec club at schools across the platform children could make friends that they relate to and that enjoy the same things as them!!
There are many risks of being out in the yard. 60,000 school kids get hospitalized each year. Some of the most common injuries that occur in the yard is unintentional strangulation, Fractures, head injuries and ligament damage. If you stay inside every once and a while, you would have less of a risk of getting injured. Although these injuries aren't as likely they still may occur.
Some people may say, ‘’Oh well, kids already spend to much time on technology!! Also, tec is bad for the children's eyes!!’’ although this is true, kids can grow academically with learning games, and it will enhance their coordination skills. Im not saying kids should always be on technology i’m just saying technology clubs and technology in general can benefit a child’s wellbeing. Lets help kids be happier at school, not lonely, and overall exited to go to school!
