Sophie bed time! My mum yelled , then I got ready for bed and fell asleep fast. A few hours later I woke up to a loud banging noise and I screamed, ahhh! My mum rushed in
“What’s wrong?” She says in a worried voice. I heard a loud banging noise and I'm not sure what it is? “Don’t worry sweetie, it's probably just the wind” she says. As my mum walked out I got out of my bed and peered out my window and saw two men fighting. One of them looks like my dad, I think to myself. I hear a door creek open and I rush downstairs to see what it was “Sophie help!” These men are attacking me”. I rushed outside and didn’t see anyone? Maybe inside? I walk back in and see two men in the kitchen with a knife. “Mum!” I yell as the men look over at me, then give me a death glare. Oh no...
I strongly believe boys should help girls cook as well as clean. A study has found that in Australia women will do an extra hour of unpaid work than men every day. Unpaid work includes things such as housework, cooking, shopping as well as looking after kids. This is not ok and it needs to be more fair to women so they get equal rights.
It’s very important for boys to learn how to cook as it makes them more independent, gives them a big social boost and they know what’s in their food and can start eating healthier. When family and friends come over you might feel more confident to cook for them and you’re going to feel more appreciated because you have cooked for other people. If you go to a take out place you might have an allergy, the chef could even sweat in your food (gross), by cooking for yourself this won't happen because you know what is in your food. This all leads to a happy life.
Cooking and helping around the house keeps your mind off things.
Do you know some boys don’t cook at ages of 40+ WOW! That is not ok! Women go to work just like men and work 6-7 hours a day. Then they get home from work and have to cook for their family, do a bunch of housework as well as look after the kids. Men work too but then they come home and do nothing. This needs to be split into equal parts because girls are doing all of the house work because they have no time for themselves to rest and have more energy for the next day to do it all again.
Did you know it’s cheaper to cook at home because if you get take away every day for a whole week the cost will come to a total of 200 dollars per week! That doesn’t include the money you spend on breakfast and lunch. Australian households spend an average of $152 on groceries per week. That includes every meal for the whole family for the whole week. So it is really clear that boys should cook because it is cheaper than getting take out every night.
Would you want to be doing all the housework and cooking? It’s 2023 boys should be learning how to cook as well as clean.
Let’s make sure that this ends!
