Beavers get to Decorating
By: Trenton Valet
This week was Homecoming, and with that came new activities. This year, Wilton High School had a school-wide decorating contest. Every seminar had something to do in the school to decorate it for Homecoming week. Everyone went to different places in and out of the school for their designated area. Students started decorating the halls, painting on windows, drawing on the sidewalk with chalk, and making banners for each graduation class.
There was a little bit of confusion when the students started painting on the windows, drawing on the sidewalk, and hanging the decorations/streamers, but after a little guidance from teachers/staff, the kids went crazy. Everyone was writing encouraging messages to all the sports teams and positive messages for Homecoming Week.
The students who painted the windows in the Townsend Commons made amazing drawings, including one of a beaver with a volleyball and a silly beaver too. Some people wrote Hoco 2024 on the doors and made the O’s into disco balls; the '70s was part of the Homecoming theme. Some students drew with chalk on the sidewalks creating incredible drawings of beavers holding volleyballs and footballs in their arms. Other students decorated the halls with streamers and class banners. Paper cutouts of disco balls hung from the ceiling and streamers hung from door frames.
Everyone did a great job decorating and put a lot of school spirit into decorating, and the staff was very impressed with the students. It was a great start to Homecoming Week.
