This year's Homecoming Week was a success.
Students decorated the school to increase school spirit. Some put cups into the fence on the football field, others painted class signs and windows, and some decorated the hall by adding banners, pictures, disco balls, and steamers.
Students attended the high school gym to participate in games. The games started with the homecoming court queen nominees being blindfolded and then applying makeup to their partnered king nominees. The rest of the student body got a real laugh out of seeing the boys in makeup. The next game was the plunger challenge. Selected groups of students from each class participated in the plunger challenge by sitting on scooters and using plungers to get from one end of the gym to the other end, passing the plunger off to the next student in line. The Juniors ended up winning the scooter challenge. The next game was the mattress challenge between the football and volleyball teams. Each group was given an air mattress and had to dive onto the mattress until they got to the other end of the gym. Whichever team got through all their players first won. The football boys took home that victory. The last challenge was the Sprite challenge. Two students from each grade were selected and had to chug a Sprite without throwing up or burping. Seniors took home the win.
Students did the annual color run, balloon toss, tug-of-war, and Rock, Paper, Scissors class tournament took place. One class at a time took off running the path into the group of other students and was periodically covered with colorful chalk. Once all the students made it into the huddle at the end, they threw colored powder up into the air (see photo). The balloon toss game was up next. Every student chose a partner and took turns tossing a water balloon to each other backing up between each throw. The last pair with an unpopped balloon won. Then the students played tug-of-war. Each grade versed each other. The Juniors ended up being the overall winners of the tug-of-war tournament. The final tournament was Rock, Paper, Scissors. The final two students were Senior Lela Glover and Junior Dylan Hess. Lela Glover ended up taking the victory for the Seniors. We then ended the day with a town parade and pep rally. Once the parade was over everyone and their parents gathered at the football field to watch the stepperettes, the football moms perform a skit, the cheerleaders, and the crowning of this year's Homecoming King and Queen. This year's nominated Homecoming Queen was Alex Bitterman and the Homecoming King was Owen Milder. Then the students all
Selected boys played Macho Volleyball in the gym. Each grade created a team of boys and the girls who play volleyball coached the boys. All other students stood in the bleachers behind their grade level cheering on the boys. The Seniors played the Freshman, while the Juniors played the Sophomores. The Seniors and Sophomores won their first match. Then the Freshman and Juniors played each other for 3rd place, while the last the Seniors played against the Sophomores playing for the championship. Last place ended up being Juniors, third was Freshman, second was Seniors, and for the second year in a row, Sophomores took home the championship. We ended the day with the Senior boys playing the varsity volleyball girls. The girls ended up beating the boys. Later that night the volleyball girls took home a victory against Durant.
We ended all our events with Powder Puff Football where the girls played flag football. Each grade was a different team and the girls were coached by the varsity football boys. The Seniors and the Freshmen ended up playing one another first, while the Juniors and Sophomores played each other. Seniors and Sophomores both won their first game, so they played each other for the championship. The score was 7-0 Sophomores and the game ended up being cut short due to the end of the school day. The Sophomores won the powder puff title, while the Seniors took home second, the Juniors third, and the Freshman got last. The night ended when the boys varsity football team beat Durant 45-7.
