The Start of Something New
As the school year starts to end, the senior class has to make a choice on where they will continue their future. Some are choosing the workforce, while others are going to continue going to school. One of my good friends, Ashley Swift, chose to continue to go to school. Ashley has also committed and continued to carry on her love for basketball.
For Ashley and a bunch of other students who are going to play sports in college, college signing day will be on Wednesday, April 30th.
Where will you be going next fall?
“I have committed to play basketball at Clarke University in Dubuque.”
What major will you be studying at Clarke?
“I am studying early childhood education, I eventually want to be a kindergarten or first-grade teacher.”
What have you done so far to get ready for college?
“As of right now, I have been to many college visits at Clarke. I have applied for as many scholarships as I am provided and I applied to a couple of online scholarships. Other than that, I am pretty much just waiting until after high school for the summer to start preparing for everything.”
Are you excited to leave your hometown and kind of start a new life?
“I have mixed feelings. I am excited to continue playing basketball with a new team. I’m scared to leave because I will leave all my friends behind and my parents. I have to learn how to make new friendships and bonds through the team and in a whole new environment.”
