Beaver Adventures in Japan!

This last spring break marked the second time students from Wilton High School visited Japan through the Japanese Club run by our notorious science teacher, Mr. Beckley.

On March 16, Bridget Harkness ('26), Aaron Lascelles-Fox ('26), Amelia Martin ('26), Kyle Grunder ('26), Khloe Hendress ('27), Jackson Benton ('27), Marshall Neuzil ('27), and Madden Shaw ('27) made their trip to Japan.

The first day in Japan was a more laid-back day in Tokyo. This included getting settled into their hotel rooms and getting acquainted with their tour director.

The second day in Japan consisted of a guided sightseeing tour including a Senso-ji temple visit, Meiji Shrine visit,  Harajuku District visit, and a Akihabara Electric Town visit.

Day three started with a bus ride to Hakone. During the Hakone excursion, they visited the Owakudani Boiling Alley, Hakone Ropeway, a Lake Ashi cruise, and visited the Hakone Shrine. That night, the group stayed in a Ryokan, which is a traditional-style Japanese inn.

On the fifth day, they traveled to Matsumoto by bus. This consisted of visiting Matsumoto Castle.

On the sixth day, they had another guided sightseeing tour. They visited the Morning Market, Old City, and Shirakawago Village. After the tour, they traveled to Kyoto by bus.

On the seventh day, they went on a Nara excursion. They visited Nara Deer Park, Toda-ji temple, and Fushimi Inari Taisha. After these visits, they experienced the culture and popularity of karaoke in Japan.

On March 23, the group traveled by bus to Osaka to board their flight back home.

This group of students got to experience Japanese culture firsthand, just like they have been learning all year in their club.
