THEY KEEP ROLLING
The 2024-2025 boys' and girls' bowling teams are both having success in this season. With major expectations during the boys' preseason, they knew they had to step up their game when punching their ticket to state.
The boys have had success before, as they were second in the Clinton Invitational on January 11th, 2025, by 4 pins. The girls, on the other hand, may have not found as much success as the boys did, but they are a young team as half of their varsity roster are freshmen. So, while the current girls' team is not going to state, they have a bright future.
On February 18th, 2025, the boys' varsity team traveled to Ottumwa for their state qualifying meet. After a strong start in the first 5 games to put the boys up early, they never looked back. After a grueling two and a half hours of bowling, the final results for teams were posted and the boys won by approximately 150.
After the team tournament was individual play. It felt like a giant weight had been removed now that no matter how bad we did for individuals, we still made it as a team, and that was the goal from the start. When the state qualifying meet was done, the boys team advanced to state along with Draven Cole being a part of the top 4 that made it, while 4 of the top 8 were from the boys team.
Monday, February 24 was the 1A Individuals tournament, and Cole placed 20th out of 32 with an overall series score of 617. Wednesday, February 26, was the 1A Team state tournament. The boys finished in 5th place.
