On April 30th, Wilton High School gets to celebrate athlete signing day, and all student-athletes who are pursuing their athletic career in college get to celebrate their hard work and dedication throughout all these years. This is a big day for these athletes. It's a day for them to be recognized for their countless hours of practice, years of commitment, and sacrifices. They put in all this hard work while still succeeding academically.
I talked to the Athletic Director, Ryan Hetzler, about his thoughts on signing day.
“I believe it’s important to celebrate big achievements that have a large impact on your future. Our student-athletes dedicate a great deal of time and effort to achieving success in the sports arena as well as in the classroom. This event gives those student-athletes and their families a time to reflect on those memories while also looking forward to what the future holds. We, as an athletic department, take great pride in watching our former athletes compete at the next level."
This signing day includes the following students, Owen Adlfinger (Wrestling), Alex Bitterman (Soccer), Kaydence Boorn (Wrestling), Parker Carpenter (Football), Kinsey Drake (Volleyball and Track), Carter Drake-Metzker (Football), Jordan Dusenberry (Football), Owen Milder (Wrestling), Cade Souhrada (Football), and Ashley Swift (Basketball).
“It's amazing, I've always wanted this opportunity to compete at the next level, and now I have the opportunity to, and I can't wait. Go Norseman!” said athlete Owen Milder.
“It's a dream come true, I've always wanted to play at the next level since I was a little kid, and I am very excited to show off all the hard work that I have put in here at Wilton at Loras,” said athlete Cade Souhrada.
