“Us For Others Club”

The club with the coolest name goes to the U.F.O. club, and no it’s not a club studying extraterrestrial life. The Us For Others Club is a volunteer dedicated club that focuses on others. This club takes a new perspective on volunteering for your community, as well as spreading positivity throughout our school!
The U.F.O. Club wants to make volunteering more fun and also more of the person’s choice. Asked about why the club wants to change the way service is done, the founder of the club, Joe Bunger says, "Volunteering starts feeling performative.” Joe and the other members of the U.F.O. Club strive to make service feel like more of an option than an obligation, the members aren’t required to have a certain amount of service hours and aren’t penalized if they don’t come to every meeting.
This club helps the community in lots of ways! The U.F.O. Club is in charge of the garden on the side of the school. (If you haven’t seen the garden, you can see its progress on their Instagram @hshsufo.) The members are also hosting a yard sale on November 14th at the Holly Springs Cultural Center to raise money for the organization Note in the Pocket, which is a non-profit organization that helps supply homeless/less-fortunate children with clothes. If you have the opportunity, please go to the U.F.O Club yard sale to help support this great organization! There are many other small projects they have done around the school that spread positivity and help our school become a better place.
U.F.O. Club members have all expressed how glad they are that this club exists. The club is inclusive, helpful, positive, and genuinely a club for others. To see more of the U.F.O. Club, go check out their Instagram @hshsufo! Overall the U.F.O. club is a great club that is a great part of the HSHS community; from gardening to yard sales, the U.F.O. club members do any kind of service with a smile!
