“Senior Spotlight--Katie Kilduff” by Evie Harrison
For the Hawks Headlines Senior Spotlight, I talked to Katie Kilduff to learn more about her experience at Holly Springs High School. As a member of the student council, Katie has positively impacted our community by working with the Holly Springs food bank and volunteering in community service projects. Katie is also a member of the cheerleading team and has worked hard to cheer on Holly Springs High School.
I asked Katie about her experience learning online during the pandemic. She mentioned that many students had trouble with the task of online learning. During our interview, she stated, “It was a lot more difficult, and in-person learning is much better.” Although online learning was far from being a highlight of Katie's year, she has stated that many of the school-held events have been important to her. “Senior night, football games, and this school’s environment” were all key parts of Katie’s high school experience that have stuck with her over the years.
I also asked Katie about her plans for the future. Her response was that she hopes to attend Appalachian State and major in psychology and/or forensics.
Last, Katie gave the following advice for underclassmen who want to achieve a successful high school education: “Try to get involved with clubs and sports. Getting involved with the school when you're younger is important for making connections and finding out more about yourself and your ideas for the future.”
I would like to thank Katie for her strong words of advice and for all she has done to support this school.
