“Starting a Club During Covid”
by Charlei Warren ︱10/20/21
Hello, my name is Charlei Warren, and today I am interviewing Evan Daniel, a senior who has started the videography club at Holly Springs High School, and I am going to be asking him a few questions about his club.
First off, “What inspired you to start the videography club?”
Evan: “I saw a misrepresentation and lack of video in the school and wanted to share my love of videos with others and create a club for it, so I made a videography club with the help of friends and staff.”
Charlei: “How did you get your members?”
Evan: “I started the club during Covid, so getting members was difficult at first, meaning that the first members were all close friends who also had an interest in film and wanted to join the club. But then, after Covid and the pandemic, we all went back to school in person. So during the freshman Flight Academy, I got the majority of the members during the club fair.”
Charlei: “How often does your club meet?”
Evan: “We meet once a week on Tuesdays during B lunch in Ms. Brim’s class (everyone should join, room 2502) where we talk about videos, sometimes film them, and also go over how to edit them. We talk about how to create the best project and ultimate outcome of a video. We cover everything; it’s a lot of fun.”
Charlei: “Do you wish that this club continues after you graduate?”
Evan: “I really do hope this club continues to grow. I would like to set it up to where leaders can apply for leadership positions after I graduate so the club can continue. Next year, current co-president Luke Smith will become the president. Right now we are laying out the base work for growing the club and setting up new members and leadership positions throughout the club so that it can grow larger each year. It’s really fun to see it grow every day. There are new opportunities presented throughout the club that I enjoy, and I’m really proud to see where it goes!”
I want to thank Evan Daniel for his time and inspiration for the videography club.
