As Captain Drake and his crew look for answers in their current situation a pair of battleships attack and the entire ship is thrust into a life and death battle with an enemy intent on their destruction. As they struggle to flee, one thing becomes clear: Their defenseless research vessel is doomed unless a way can be found to defeat the enemies closing in on them.
