Caterina Sforza as the Holy Virgin and Saint Catherine of Alexandria with the Visconti symbol of the shell with her seven sons, the painter as Saint Augustine, by the "Master of the Pala Sforzesca," 1494-1495. The Sforza noble family ruled the Duchy of Milan in the 15th-16th centuries.
