Translation Notes
General:
Fonts are swapped around based on their tone/volume, so it might look random, but I'm just trying to replicate the original font choices.

• Canada says his "area of jurisdiction" and not his district, so that confirms he's not a separate district despite being a separate country irl. Canada and America both share the +1 international calling code, so it makes sense. What dystopian AU where America rules Canada is this......
• America says their delayed payments began "two generations" ago, which depending on how you measure that, is fairly accurate. Beginnings in the 1980s, the US began paying its dues nine months late every year, and the situation has snowballed since - for similar reasons as I previously explained (disagreements on how much the US contributes vs other countries, in both regular and peacekeeping budget dues; financial preoccupation in other global peacekeeping efforts, such as Kosovo in the 80s and the Middle East and Ukraine in the modern day; etc).
• He also correctly asserted that they do their best to pay when they can. The irl US is not withholding payments wholesale or maliciously, instead opting to pay in smaller chunks (ex. $200M in Oct 2023 and additional payments in Nov) when Congress/the current administration agrees to release the money...
• So how much does the US owe the UN as of May 2024? A cool $994 million! (Down from $1.1 billion in 2023.)

• Japan was indeed the second-most contributor to the UN up until 2019-21 (at 8.5%), when China passed them (at 12%). Japan actually peaked in contributions at a massive 20.5% (!) in 2020, but steadily declined to the current percentage afterwards. Meanwhile, China wasn't even contributing a full percent (0.9%) in 2000, until they began to ramp up their contributions every year until reaching the current amount.
• In comparison, America has been the number one contributor since the very beginning, peaking at 39.9% at the initial founding of the UN, stabilizing around 33% for a couple decades, before decreasing to the minimum possible 25% (and then reaching an agreement with the UN to lower their floor to the current 22% rate in 1999).

• I guess this AU version of America is afraid of ghosts too...
