Page 2:
• The Schengen Area is an area consisting of 29 European countries, 27 of which are EU member states, that have officially abolished border controls at their mutual borders and allow for visa-free travel between countries. It is named after the 1985 Schengen Agreement and the 1990 Schengen Convention, both signed in Schengen, Luxembourg.
◦ Up until this year, only 25 out of 27 EU member states were part of the Schengen Area. Who wasn't part of the club, you ask? Why, Bulgaria and Romania! Hence their cardfighting with the others in the comic. Despite joining the EU in 2007, it took them over a decade to finally become Schengen members in March 2024. The source of the constant delays and deferments? Austria kept voting against them (mostly for immigration reasons, it seems)!
• The "usual/traditional gang income" mentioned is シノギ (shinogi), the word used for a mafia or yakuza's source of income. This can include things like a security fee in exchange for acting as bouncers, drug trafficking, casino operations, prostitution, etc.
• Reminder that the Cost associated with everyone is those country's irl GDP, circa 2023-24. The website where Hima got his numbers for the main 8 seems to be slightly off for this one (i.e. Netherlands is listed as 991 in the comic, but 1117 on the website). So perhaps he went to a different source this time...?
