Translation Notes
General:
Fonts are swapped around based on their tone/volume, so it might look random, but I'm just trying to replicate the original font choices.
Page 1:
• The hanzi China uses is 嗯, an interjection to express doubt/curiosity, surprise or agreement; or function as a groaning onomatopoeia (depending on pronunciation). The furigana beside it reads "ee" (pronounced "ehh").
• China also uses 若造 (wakazou) to refer to everyone, which is basically "younger/greenhorn (derogatory)."
Page 4:
• The sign on the door says fermé / closed in French. Why is the door sign in French but the letter(?) from the jilted lover is in Japanese...
Page 6:
• France's claim of intimate economic relations is accurate. Real-life Germany is France's lead trading partner, as its number one supplier and customer, while France is Germany's fourth-largest trading partner (behind China, the Netherlands, and the US in that order. Italy ranks in at number 6). Their economies are very intertwined, with much investment in both directions.
