For a lane blocking event, the response plan tab should automatically populate the devices that the system thinks you should use.
ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK - sometimes the automatically populated devices will not be the correct devices.
To remove devices, select on the specific device you would like to remove, and press the delete button on keyboard.
To remove all devices, click on the entire box (it will highlight in a blue box) and click the "Remove Device" button on the top.
To add devices, locate the DMS on the Map Interface window. Hover your mouse over the selected DMS. Press and hold while dragging that device into the "Drag Device(s) Here" section.
Once you have the proper devices, click on the "Modify Message" button to change message.
For same roadway messages:
Under Message Libraries, select "Traffic Lane Messages" and select the message the represents lane closure. Then modify the cross street in the new message.
NOTE: Some DMS have a smaller amount of characters that can display. Try to shorten words like "LANE" or "ROAD" to "LN" or "RD"
For arterial message (displaying a lane closure on a nearby roadway):
Under Message Libraries, select "Arterial Lane Messages" and select the message that represents lane closure. Then modify the roadway, direction, and cross street in the new message.
Make sure the "On, Off, On" options on the side say "3, 0, 0" for a 1 page message, or "3, 0, 3" for a 2 page message.
Make sure the "Beacons" and "Display Infinite" boxes are checked.
Select the lowest priority for "Incident Management Alert" (the lower the number, the lower the priority.)
Click "Modify"
The message is now ready to be checked by a supervisor, or a designated operator for errors. Once checked, they will give you the OK to execute message.
Click on the "Execute" button on top to display messages on DMS boards in real time.
If lane closure changes lanes, you can go back and modify message.
If the lane closure moves into a shoulder, or the event clears altogether, you can remove messages by clicking the "Terminate" button on top.
After you terminate the response plan, you must check the CCTV or “All DMS View” to make sure the message was properly removed. Then, a note is to be placed in the event history advising if the DMS was removed, or if there was an issue. If there is an issue, consult your supervisor immediately and place a note in the history of the steps you took to correct the issue.
