Stephanie Himango (Class of 1988)
Stephanie was an outstanding multi-sport athlete who earned twelve varsity letters - four each in swimming/diving, gymnastics, and track. She also participated in six State Tournaments - 1 in track, 2 in diving, and 3 in gymnastics. The Agate gymnastics team placed 3rd, 4th, and 3rd in state competition during her time of competition. As a sophomore, Stephanie qualified for State in all three sports. The next year, she qualified for state competition in gymnastics. Stephanie's senior year was highlighted once again with her participation in the State diving and gymnastics competition. She was elected team captain for the diving, gymnastics, and track teams and received the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award. Stephanie attended St. Olaf College and graduated in 1992 with a BA in Political Science and Asian Studies. At Hong Kong University, she earned a Master's in Philosophy. After six years in Hong Kong, she returned to the United States and was hired by NBC National News. She has covered Hurricane Katrina, terror attacks, elections, segments for NBC's "Making a Difference" series, and, once again, continuing to make a presence in athletics, has covered the Olympic Games.
