Dale Carlson (Class of 1959)

Dale was a top distance runner and an excellent student. In 1958 and 1959 Dale won the District 26 Mile race (setting a district record in 1959).  He placed in Region 7 earning trips to the state track meet both years.  Earlier in the year Dale had competed at the state cross-country meet placing tenth.  He was salutatorian of his senior class as well as Boy Citizen of the Year.  Dale continued his running success in college at Gustavus Adolphus and beyond with membership on the Senior Masters Relay Team at the Edmund Fitzgerald Marathon.  Dale became a teacher and later was an employment counselor for the Minnesota Department of Economic Security.
