Edward Kernan

 Edward Kernan (Class of 1944)

Ed won ten letters in high schooln- three in basketball, three in football , three in track, and one in tennis.  In basketball Ed was the conference scoring chanp, All-Conference and All-District in 1943 and 1944.  As a track athlete, Ed won five events at the District Meet and participated at the State Track Meet in 1943 and 1944.  Ed received the American Legion Outstanding Athlete Award in 1944.  Ed enrolled at the University of Minnesota and was a three year starter on the Gopher Basketball Team and was Big Ten Honorable Mention all three years.  After graduation Ed was a successful coach in high school and college.  He was inducted into the Northland College Hall of Fame where he had been their basketball coach.
