The Breath of Life—Restoration of Life
In the beginning, physical life began when God breathed into Adam His neshama, the breath of life (Gen. 2:7). That life was destroyed by sin. After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to the disciples and breathed the Holy Spirit on them (John 20:22). Jesus’ breathing restored the life that had been shattered by sin. Through the initial breathing, Adam became a living being; through the second breathing, the last Adam, Jesus Christ, became a life-giving Spirit for us (1 Cor. 15:45). Apostle Paul further elaborated his thoughts by explaining, “The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are from heaven. And just as we have borne the likeness (his physical nature) of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness (the spiritual nature) of the man from heaven.” (1 Cor. 15:46-49)
No one else but God, the sovereign Creator of Life, can bring back to life something that has died. The Spirit of God has made [us]; the breath of the Almighty (His neshama) gives [us] life” (Job 33:4). God’s is the power to create, and God’s is the power to resurrect the life He created.
God Himself came to deliver us from the consequences of our own wrongdoing. Jesus is the divine Messiah, our God, who left His throne in heaven, became a man like us, and came to rescue us. He voluntarily, out of love, took our punishment upon Himself by dying the terrible death on the cross. He redeemed us from the ultimate death. Through Him, we are brought back to life. He heals our emotional, mental, and physical wounds.
Five hundred years before Christ, the prophet Isaiah spoke of this divine providence, prophesying,
“But He was pierced for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on Him,
and by His wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)
Healing flows towards us through Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross. God offered Himself sacrificially so we could escape the punishment for our sins. The spiritual law postulates that when we acknowledge this fact, believe in our hearts, and confess with our lips that Jesus is indeed God incarnate, then we open the gate of divine healing from Heaven. Jesus’ sacrifice not only assured our salvation but also our healing, spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical. This course will unfold this very aspect of the biblical path for healing.
Jesus resurrected on the third day, appeared to the disciples and many other witnesses, and ascended to His heavenly abode only to return at the end of times to gather all His own to be with Him for Eternity in the New Jerusalem. What happened to Jesus upon His resurrection is decreed to happen to all who believe in Him as Lord, God, and Savior.
Apostle Paul writes, “I pray that you may know Him better…and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working on His mighty strength, which He (God) exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead…” (Eph. 1:17-20).
Humans were never meant to be separated from the Creator, from the Giver and Sustainer of Life! The death of the human spirit resulted in an illness of the human soul. Emotional and mental pain is a direct consequence of the inherited condition of spiritual death. Because spiritual problems can only be addressed spiritually, this presupposes that the remedy for the cure of the misery of mental and emotional pain lies also in the spiritual realm. The resurrection of the human spirit brings healing to the mind, the body, and the soul, thus restoring physical, mental, and emotional health. This course takes you through the biblical steps of attaining this free healing. When you are healed, you are indeed healed forever. There is no relapse because what was resurrected (the spirit) can never die again.
