The first prayer is for God’s mercy as you step up in your journey of transformation. This is, without doubt, the most important task you can ever undertake to position yourself eternally with God. Be encouraged and strengthened. Help is on the way! Our God is merciful. He desires mercy, not punishment or death (Hosea 6:6). He pardons sin and forgives the transgression. He delights in showing mercy (Micah 7:18). His mercy is available to anyone who accepts it. God’s mercy triumphs over judgment (James 2:13). A significant impediment to the acceptance of God’s mercy is pride. You must humble yourself and plead for mercy and pardon. Approach God and accept His mercy for the healing from trauma.
Over two thousand years ago, Jesus proclaimed the year of the Lord’s favor (Isaiah 61:2). It has spiritual benefits for all humanity. Seek God with all your heart, soul, and strength while He can still be found. Today is the day of the Lord’s favor for you. You will know the moment of your healing when you will indeed say:
I will praise you, Oh Lord… I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. (Isaiah 12:1,2)
Prayer for Mercy
Father, brokenhearted, I come before You in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. I bow before You and proclaim You as my Lord, God, and Savior. To You, I come in my distress because there is no one like You. There is no one who can understand; there is no one who has compassion and shows mercy. In Your great compassion, turn Your fierce anger into a life-giving river. I come to You, God, the Giver of Life, the Fountain of Living Water, and I ask that You deal with me according to Your steadfast love. Oh Lord, have mercy on me.
I am tired of wandering around. I am thirsty and hungry deep within. I have gone my ways, and I have done my things. I have taken a lot but have remained empty. Nothing fills me with good measure to satisfy the longing in my heart. Have mercy on me, the sinner, for I have become senseless and idle towards Your holy presence. Forgive my ignorance, Father. I deserve nothing but the stern discipline of Your righteous hand. Oh Lord, Have mercy on me.
I pray now that Your hand extends to me for blessing instead of destruction. Break the iron shell around my heart; turn up Your holy fire in me and melt the ice inside. Make me soft and sensitive again. Remove the heart of stone within and give me a heart after your own heart. Remove the veil of darkness from me. Let Your presence penetrate the core of my being as water penetrates the arid land of a desert. Soak me in Your goodness and revive in me the joy of Your salvation. Do this, Lord God, not because I deserve it but because of Your great Name. Oh Lord, have mercy on me. Amen!
An earnest plea for mercy sets you on the path of restoration. The next step requires your sincere, wholehearted repentance. It calls for an honest examination of heart and mind.
