This therapeutic approach adopts the framework of EHAD as an overarching philosophy for healing from traumatic events. It is our Global Positioning System (GPS) on the narrow road. It is our blueprint for good health and living life to the fullest (John 10:10). The doctrine of EHAD is rooted in the sole purpose of the biblical narrative to encounter God and to know Him personally, to evoke a deep love toward Him with the ultimate purpose to become more like Him and be united with Him for Eternity. Thus, the Hebrew Word EHAD (אחד) means "to become ONE" or "to be united" with God. Adam and Eve became ONE (אחד) flesh upon their union:
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become ONE (אחד) flesh. (Genesis 2:24, emphasis added)
Upon giving the Ten Commandments, God is identified as being EHAD (אחד). Moses charged the Israelites,
Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God, The Lord is ONE (אחד). (Deuteronomy 6:4, emphasis added)
Jesus explains to His disciples the essence of EHAD (אחד),
I and the Father are ONE (אחד). (John 10:30, emphasis added)
And again.
On that day, you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. (John 14:20)
In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed for the disciples,
Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be ONE (אחד) as we are ONE (אחד). (John 17:11, emphasis added)
And again.
I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be ONE (אחד) as we are ONE (אחד). (John 17:22, emphasis added)
The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Hebrews, further explains.
Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. (Hebrews 2:11)
The NKJV and the Jerusalem Bible versions translate "the same family" as "they are ONE" (אחד). Becoming ONE (אחד) with God is the condition for entering the Kingdom of God. One must become compatible with God's holiness and purity to enter the Kingdom of God. In His sermon on the Mount, Jesus proclaimed,
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. (Matthew 5:8)
The prerequisite for becoming ONE (אחד) with Jesus is to become more like Jesus. The healing from trauma and freedom from spiritual oppression are hinged on this condition. This healing approach is designed as an action plan for achieving a Christ-like life. Our end goal is to become EHAD (אחד) with Christ. Each session will take you on a journey to this end. You will, indeed, experience Jesus' promises to become EHAD (אחד) with Him (John 14:20). EHAD (אחד) with Christ is a transformation into His image. When achieved, this transformation brings healing from any trauma.
