Resurrection of the Human Spirit
God didn't abandon His creation. Back in the garden of Eden, He forged a plan to restore His divine fullness to us. This restoration happens in the same order as the collapse first occurred. Upon Adam’s transgression, the first to die was his spirit, followed by the corruption of his soul and ending with the ultimate death of his physical body. Upon salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, the first to be resurrected is the spirit. When we confess with our mouths, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we are saved (Rom. 10:9). At that moment, the power of the Holy Spirit touches our human spirit and brings it back to life. Jesus Himself explains that this miraculous rebirth of the human spirit is a necessary condition for obtaining what was lost in Eden.
“I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’”(John 3:5,6)
This is the only condition for the complete restoration of mind and body, soul, and spirit to their initial divine design. “The God who gives life to the dead” (Rom. 4:17) made it possible for us to restore our access to Him (Rom. 5:1-2). “[God] saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5). Christ Jesus destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel (2 Tim. 1:10). “In Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ” (Col. 2:9-10). “Because I live, you also will live,” said Jesus (John 14:19).
Being born again by the Spirit of Life is the prerequisite for healing the soul and the body. The resurrection of the human spirit sets in motion divine mechanisms that have healing qualities. This therapeutic approach applies these ancient biblical truths to restore human health that was detrimentally impacted by trauma.
