Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied.“The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’“‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’” (Matthews 13: 24-30)
Every child coming into this world is a blessing. Their soul is like a fertile field where God has planted good seeds for abundant life. And yet, being born into a world seeded with violence, immorality, and corruption, it is inevitable that these seeds will simultaneously be sown into the innocent ground of the child’s soul, as well. As the child grows, these two kinds of seeds grow and mature also, yielding a harvest of wheat and weed. Jesus said, “Let both grow together until the harvest” (v.30). He further instructed that the weeds be collected first and then the good wheat to be brought into His barn.
EHAD with GOD approach to healing follows Christ’s instructions. The strategy is to identify the weeds, pull them out, and cast them away, “burn them,” as Jesus said. Once they are removed, the remaining harvest will be seen for what it is: A good seed that produced a good harvest—a pure and beautiful soul destined to God’s eternal barns—the Kingdom of God.
The road to healing is like plucking out the bad weeds from a beautiful garden. We have uprooted the weeds of anger, hatred, resentment, bitterness, and unforgiveness. Those are weeds that, if not uprooted on time, can grow into tree-like structures that would later need special equipment to cut down and destroy. Indeed, if you have followed EHAD with GOD instructions, you have now cut them down and removed them. The soul suffocated under the weed invasion is now rejoicing in the Son-lit freedom. At this point on the narrow road, we are ready to deal with those “smaller” weeds, which have the appearance of a nice ground cover, but in reality, they suck the lifeblood out of the field—the soul. These are the weeds of powerlessness and ambivalence.
