The biblical view on healing integrates physical and spiritual health into the understanding of human wellbeing. A close study of Jeremiah 29:11 reveals a deeper meaning of God's understanding of our welfare.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
This verse is often engraved on items as delicate as exceptional art pieces and mundane as T-shirts and bumper stickers. It is often spoken as a promise of hope and vision for the future to grieving or greatly discouraged people. For the happy and the prosperous, this verse has no weight. For the brokenhearted, this verse may sound very personal and yet distant. Personal, because God's words sound intimate, spoken at an "eye level" communication contact, and distant because the future is always uncertain for those living in pain when happiness, health, and prosperity seem unattainable.
The plans, however, the Prophet talks about are not the plans God has for just a particular individual, even for the brokenhearted. This is God's Grand Plan forged back at the beginning of time in the Garden of Eden. This is God's Plan for humanity's deliverance from the consequences of the Fall. Because of its grand purpose, this Grand Plan benefits all individuals, the entire human race. Healing from traumatic events and offences are embedded in God's Grand Plan.
