Gates of Tengoku Previews: New Artist Showcase

“When I was about 15, I wrote a letter to my all-time favorite artist, William O’Connor, and told him I loved his work in L5R and that it was an inspiration to me. I wanted to be like him when I grew up. I didn’t really expect a response, and yet, a couple weeks later, I received a letter in response. He told me my letter had made his week, he gave me all sorts of sage advice on illustration, and included a personalized print of his work ‘The Green Knight.’ I always cherished that. It may have taken me some decades, but I’ve always felt I owed him to try, more than ever since his untimely passing. So I’m completely honored to present this piece for Plains of Whispered Melancholy and I plan to complete one or two more for Gates of Tengoku.
