Welcome to the second day of Personality previews for CRIII. Let's dive right into it!
Fuming over the defeat handed to him at the first battle of Broken Wave City by the last minute arrival of the Yasuki fleet, Gusai Ichido prepares another assault hoping to crush the nascent "Three Clan Alliance." Having annihilated the Firefly Clan, he intends to discourage and demoralize any potential allies of Yoritomo Minoko, stripping her of any outside aid and legitimacy she might claim to the Mantis Championship.
Minoko has allies which Ichido has not planned on, however; ones that even she is unaware plan to aid her. In the Colonies, Hoji Misato makes a play to consolidate her family's future, even as Yoritomo Seiki's ambitions overplay his hand...
Shiba Tamashii, the young Phoenix Champion, finally arrives in Isawa's City with his friend Shino and the ancient being called Agasha Gifu. The Council is accepting but aloof, and he is disheartened by their dismissive attitude towards him. Gifu suggests perhaps it is time for Tamashii to visit the lands of the Dragon, where a long-guarded secret may change the trajectory of the war, and bring into play allies both ancient and powerful. Joined by the Master of Air, Isawa Tsumaro, Tamashii and Shino set off again with only their trust in the cryptic Gifu to guide them.
Special thanks to artist Rinoa Umry Capua for a second Asako Shino art piece!
The Scorpion have yet to truly commit to a side in the struggle for the Empire's future. While old grudges and clan pride do not permit them to follow the Lion Akodo Kano, they well remember that the man who lays claim to the Hantei name is the same man who slaughtered their former Champion, Bayushi Nitoshi. Playing each side off the other is the kind of dangerous game the Scorpion excel at, as their representatives ingrain themselves into the political hearts of each faction.
Persistent doubts about the handling the situation in the Colonies prompts the decision to remove their chief operative, but Shosuro Hotaka has other plans. Meanwhile, Bayushi Iyashi searches for her husband, missing since the battle of the Second Seal, and an unlikely ally promises to lend her help... for a simple favor.
Special thanks to Thulsa Doom for another Soshi Aoto art piece, and artist Maia Babate for Bayushi Iyashi!
News of the fate of Iweko Shibatsu, and his torture at the hands of the misguided Cult of Fu Leng prompts a shocking response from the Hantei Dynasty. Kanpeki's retribution for the shattering of the former Imperial Prince, a man he once considered his closest friend, is to denounce the revived Snake Clan entirely, stripping the Chuda of their land, rights, and protections. This emboldens the so-called "Tanuki Clan" and their Scorpion backers to eliminate these abominable wielders of dark magics once and for all.
Meanwhile, the Glorious Emperor Hantei XL looks to fill the gap left by the removal of the Seppun family by rewarding his own former family with the role of the Emperor's Guard. With the newly formed Obsidian Legions, he also seeks to deal a fatal blow to those traitors who claim the title of "Spider Clan," yet rebel against him in alliance to the Iweko.
After a grueling confrontation in the shadow of the Khol Wall, with Moto Naleesh having been driven off but not completely destroyed, the Unicorn consolidate their forces and lend their strength to support Iweko Miaka's claim to the throne, with Champion Shinjo Saeki elevating new leaders to rebuild their armies, reinforce the land route to the Colonies, and secure the supplies their forces desperately need. One such general fights with the aid of the Spirit Realms, perhaps a harbinger of things yet to come...
Meanwhile, in the Second City, Utaku Kimiono leverages her position to complete her ultimate ambition: using the territories and resources controlled by the clan to establish a new force of Colonial Battle Maidens, one which will fall under her purview.
And, to wrap things up, here is the second set of Unaligned Personalities from CRIII, featuring an assortment of the familiar, the new, and the long overdue, with another Ivory Kingdoms border courtesy of the kind folks at LBS Remastered!
That wraps up all the Personality previews for CRIII. We hope you'll join us tomorrow for all things attachable, with Followers, Items, and Spells. As always, we appreciate your kind words and support!
Special thanks to both Jonny Le Streghe (Gusai Kazuko, The Dark Horseman, Moto Ogaru, Celestial Dragon, Jagadis Singh) and Jay Longfellow (Sarassa, Kayo no Oni), who each have contributed multiple pieces to this set!
