and documents for these and additional events are now available on our drive.
This year we are excited to bring you TWO Shattered Empire storyline events!
There Will Be Blood:
A Shattered Empire Charity Storyline Tournament for Legend of the Five Rings
GenCon Event Catalog ID: CGM25ND273403
Saturday 8/2/2025, 10AM EDT, ICC Hall C (Pine Box HQ)
During the Age of Conquest, after the defeat of the Destroyer, Kali-ma, the Great Temple of Ruhmal was found by the Spider conquerors
in the remote jungles of the territories of the ruined Ivory Kingdoms, known to Rokugani as the Colonies. Within, they discovered a pool of
the blood of a dead god, which was by equal turns a terrifying weapon and a potent tool for fertile renewal. The Blood of the Preserver
could induce rage-filled madness and powerful transformation in those who consumed it; it could also reduce entire swaths of land
to ash and sludge, though after time those lands would be restored to life, more bountiful than ever.
After the defeat of P’an Ku, the Spider Champion Daigotsu Kanpeki made a gift of the Blood to the Empress Iweko I, mere months before she
announced her intention to step down as ruler of the Empire. Where the Iweko Dynasty secluded this powerful artifact is a secret lost to
destruction and time, with none known alive who hold the secret. Were it found, it could affect the balance of power in the Shattered Empire,
whether to relieve the food shortages and famines which still persist in a ravaged Rokugan, or in annihilating the armies of a hated enemy.
As the winner of this event, your clan will be the one who discovers the location of the Blood of the Preserver. You will get to determine
the posture of your clan in the use of the Blood, be it peaceful and bountiful, wrathful and destructive, or otherwise. Your choice of Wind
will determine which of the three major powers in the new world order will benefit from the Blood’s discovery and use, and you may work with
our Design and Story Team to determine a favored Personality to feature in the Blood’s discovery or use, subject to narrative appropriateness.
This event will be run as a Swiss format tournament, with a number of 45-minute single game rounds dependent on turnout,
followed by a cut to best 2-of-3 game 75-minute matches for the top scorers.
To honor the memory of long-time member of the L5R community Case Kiyonaga, all proceeds from this tournament
will be donated to the Red Panda Network.

The Injuries We Do:
A Draft Charity Shattered Empire Storyline Tournament for Legend of the Five Rings
GenCon Event Catalog ID: TCG25ND273519
Sunday 8/3/2025, 11AM EDT, ICC Hall C (Pine Box HQ)
The Imperial prince Iweko Shibatsu, younger brother of the Emperor Iweko II, was thought lost and dead after the disruption of the Phoenix ritual at Ryoko Owari during the War of the Seals. Instead he was transported away to parts unknown and recovered by the Chuda, who broke his mind while attempting to corrupt him, then “rescued” as a barely-cogent prisoner in the hands of the Crane regent, Doji Meiji. But the information that he is alive has now leaked...
The result of this event affects the Shattered Empire storyline (part of the Onyx Lives! fan continuation project). Participants in this draft event will
select a clan to support (which need not be either of the clans they choose for their draft deckbuilding), as well as a Wind. The winner of this event will
have their chosen clan secure the near-catatonic Shibatsu, delivering them to the custody of their chosen Wind. You may work with our Design and
Story Team to determine a favored Personality to feature in the recovery of the prince, subject to narrative appropriateness.
This event will be run as an L5R draft, using booster packs from the Ivory arc of the game. No materials are required to participate, and the Draft rules will be explained on site. After a short time to draft and construct decks (20 Fate / 20 Dynasty), a maximum of three rounds will be played to determine the winner of individual pods, with a final round or two involving pod winners, depending on participation. Rounds will be ~30 minutes in length.
To honor the memory of long-time member of the L5R community Case Kiyonaga, all proceeds from this tournament
will be donated to the Red Panda Network.
