Hello, all, and welcome to the third day of Previews Week for Chaos Reigns, Part II.
It's time for the second block of Personalities, this time beginning with the Mantis. Specifically, we'll be looking at Yoritomo Minoko's efforts to build a new coalition
of Minor Clans. Although the tragedy of the Firefly looms large, the clan's lone survivor has thrown in with Minoko, assuring the banner of the Firefly,
its spirit and its memory will endure, if nothing else. Minoko's close advisors urge her to stay the course.
However, agents of the other two "Mantis Clan Champions", Gusai Ichido and Yoritomo Seiki, are not idle. Ichido's pirates continue to plague the coasts
of both the southern Empire and the Colonies, raiding and pillaging to build up supplies with which to launch another attack at Broken Wave City.
In the Colonies, the daimyo of the Hoji family, Misato, works in the shadows for both Seiki's agenda and her own, unknowable goal.
In the lands of the Phoenix, Isawa Koiso continues to rebuild the Phoenix Council. Within the Phoenix lands themselves, sporadic raids by the Yobanjin
continue to plague isolated or undefended villages, often prompting more and more vicious retaliation in kind. Many Phoenix who were once content
to pursue a life of scholarship now find themselves militarized and driven by vengeance and anger.
The young Phoenix Champion, Shiba Tamashii, journeys across war torn Rokugan in an attempt to return home, with his childhood friend, Asako Shino;
his sensei, the venerable Shiba Tetsunori, and the mysterious elder known as Agasha Gifu. Elsewhere, the esoteric scholar Isawa Taisho pledges his assistance
to the group of raiders known as the 'Tanuki Clan' in their efforts to drive out and destroy the Chuda that occupy the former Scorpion lands
around the Second Pit. As always, Taisho remains flippant and vague about his own personal reasons for these actions.
The Scorpion Champion, Bayushi Kanihime, continues to maintain the facade that she is dead, while the Governor of Ryoko Owari presents
a more complacent, cooperative front to the Hantei. Kanihime focuses on dispatching assets out to learn as much as possible about events
in both the southern Empire and in the Colonies, seemingly searching for something.
Accompanying Keiichi on his clandestine mission are his daughters, both eager and ready to prove themselves to both Kanihime and their father.
Many Spider followed Kanpeki in his conquest of the Empire, but some few, less than three hundred, abandoned him when they felt he had ceded too much to the Chuda, and had become too reliant on corruption to achieve his goals. This mix of untainted shourido adherents and members of the Order of Venom, continue to call themselves the Spider Clan, decrying the Hantei as a traitor that is not strong enough to win or hold his throne on his own merits. They have been biding their time, waiting for a leader to emerge, while others call them traitors to the Hantei Emperor and seek to annihilate them.
Most of these largely former Daigotsu, led by Daigotsu Geiko, have pledged themselves to the memory of the Susumu family. The Susumu,
who uniformly denounced Kanpeki's decision to embrace corruption and maho to wage his war, were uniformly slaughtered,
save for one lone survivor, Susumu Neya. It is to Neya that they pledge the last full measure of their strength.
Neya, however, is no leader. Instead, she, and those she now calls kin, turn to another leader who has emerged at last to lead them.
In the lands of the Unicorn, newly appointed Champion Shinjo Saeki fights engagement after engagement against her insane former Champion, Moto Naleesh, now at the head of a large force of Dark Moto riders. Village after village is massacred and put to the torch, while Saeki's forces struggle to save what they can.
Saeki reaches out to Akodo Kano, hoping to forge an alliance and defeat this threat together, setting the stage
for the first large scale battle of the Alliance against the Hantei regime since the fall of Toshi Ranbo.
That's it for the second block of Personality previews. Join us tomorrow as we dive into Fate cards, with Followers, Items, and Spells.
Thank you for your continued support!
