We are pleased to announce the participation of a new artist in our fan-driven efforts. John Peria originally responded to our call for contributing artists to future expansion Chaos Reigns, Part III, reaching out to us via our Facebook group. He will have art forthcoming in that set, but he was also interested in tackling some of our previous pieces which did not yet have artwork. As such, we present to you John's artwork for Togashi Noritada, Defender of the High House, from our recent Gates of Tengoku expansion. This card image is now available for download in our Community Contributed Art section of our Drive, under John's name.
This is a good opportunity to renew our call for participating artists as well. Chaos Reigns, Part III will release in the later part of this year, and if you are an established or aspiring artist and wish to tackle something for the Onyx Lives! Project, please check out our CR3 Art Assignments document. Some character names in this document have changed since our last iteration. There are still plenty of open slots for contribution.
While we primarily solicit character art, as that is most often what draws players' attention, we also gladly accept contributions which may be appropriate for other card types -- if you prefer to paint landscapes, armor or weapons, scenes of courtly intrigue or battle, etc., we can almost certainly find a place for your art. We invite anyone who may be interested to look through the PDFs of our older sets for ideas, as those almost entirely lack artwork at the moment, and we are committed to continuous improvement as more contributions come in.
If you are a player who feels a particular attachment to a character or card, feel free to commission your favorite artist or friend. If you don't mind sharing the commission with us, we are happy to use them. Prior such cards include Yoritomo Saigo and Bayushi Waietto. The Onyx Lives! Project does not commission artwork itself, and relies on the offered assistance of others, as we operate strictly not-for-profit, but we encourage you to support your favorite artists so they might continue to thrive and grow.
