Mocked up a few of the random Spider cards from ROU into Set Editor for those interested. Though I worked on all aspects of set design, my focus tended to be on Crane and Spider things, which is why I've mostly been discussing Spider here. We all collaborated on card designs and revisions as a group, but initial designs and the overall oversight and vision of the clans were delegated amongst us, and I only really feel comfortable speaking for myself and "my" designs.
Many of the lower rarity Experienced Personalities are non-Unique, in fact most Personalities are non-Unique. This was done partially to prevent people from being annoyed at having to pop a pack for yet another unique they didn't need, and to support drafting. Draft was a major focus of Onyx Edition, one that is sadly probably lost to time (we used a drafting program that is long defunct), and the fact that all the hard work of the drafting teams and the head of drafting design Chris Medico never got to see their work come to light I consider one of the greatest tragedies of the whole Onyx tale, along with never getting Naga cards into the hands of their long-waiting fans. (Medico also oversaw Naga design, making him a double tragic hero in the Onyx tale.)
Mostly this last set intended to finish fleshing out the two themes the Spider had in Onyx (Chuda control/oni summoner and undead commanders), as well as lay the groundwork for the next theme to come, Dark Paragons. As usual, keep in mind these cards have had zero playtesting or Rules Team input if you decide to try and use them for anything.
