Hello, all! It's me again! I know it's been a while, but I'm back to bring that good news that everyone loves to hear: It's time for some errata!
CRIII has been out in the wild for a bit now, and we have had plenty of time to see it shake out, take measure of some of the issues when it moves from our modest playtesting group to the larger community, and test some corrections to the environment. While we desired to push the power level a bit towards the end of Shattered Empire, a couple of CRIII cards require our attention: Fantastic Gardens of Otosan Uchi, and What Have You Done!? Both are simply a step too strong.
Next, we have been following a situation regarding several of the Dark Rings from ROU, and felt that, in order to curb abuse that went beyond the scope of what was intended, it was necessary to remove the ability to discard them for their printed actions, restricting the use of the Rings to strictly in-play functions. This also gave us the chance to 'clean up' the Dark Rings, removing things like redundant elemental descriptors on the actions, and tightening up the wording to make everything less crammed and more legible.
Lastly, we have a particularly painful, but necessary one. When Political Standoff was initially designed back in Ivory Edition, it was the latest in a long line of attempts to address the most painful of matches in L5R - straight honor versus dishonor. One of the most important aspects of this Event was that it should never be, in and of itself, a stronger or easier victory condition than either dishonor or honor, merely a way to provide a resolution to games that sometimes drag on for hours. However, in every arc, it steadily crept towards becoming a victory condition in and of itself, and ShE is no different. So, the time has come to alter Political Standoff. You will no longer be able to 'double dip' tokens from both honor losses and gains, now having the option instead to choose when the event is played. This brings Political Standoff back in line with its intended usage.
Set PDFs and image packs have already been updated in the Public Drive, and individual card images are available in the July 2026 Errata folder in the Erratas section of that same drive. We will continue to monitor and make necessary changes to the ShE environment to make it as healthy and enjoyable for the community as possible, while we strive towards finishing up Three Dynasties. Thank you all for your patience and continued support for this project.
