The Dominion Scandal was a major political scandal which took place on April 20, 2025 during the 12th session of Parliament.
During the 12th Session of Parliament following the legal establishment of Colonial Legislative Assemblies, the Governor of La Royaume de la Montagne requested to speak before the house of Parliament.
The Governor then announced before the chamber that the House of Representatives of the colony of La Royaume de la Montagne (Le Conseil de Montagne) had passed a bill without the knowledge of the Governor, who then presented the document to be read before the house of Parliament by the Speaker of the House.
The bill would have allowed the colony of La Royaume de la Montagne to reject royal decisions if it believed the Empire was threatening or harming it in any way. The bill recieved no signature from the Governor or Royal Assent and thus was not passed.
Following the reading of the bill, the Parliament erupted into disproval over its contents. The speaker of the house was first to deny the legitimacy of the bill, stating it voided La Royaume de la Montagne's colonial contract. The Governor of La Royaume de la Montagne then vowed to punish those who had passed the bill, with other members of Parliament voicing outrage.
The King described the situation as "Outrageous!" while the Lt. King thanked the Governor for bringing the document forward.
It was suggested that the Governor of RDLM be slapped by the Governor of MooTown for the bill, with the Governor of MooTown quoted saying "HANG THEM", though no formal punishments were ever issued over the bill.
This scandal directly resulted in the Colonial/Territorial Loyalty Act being passed the next month.
The Act would strictly require that all colonial & territorial leaders be loyal to the empire or face punishment by the Ministries of Justice & Defense. The act has yet to be used in any cases though it was the official response to this scandal.
The Governor of La Royaume de la Montagne also launched an official investigation into Le Conseil de la Montagne in response to the passing of this bill. The investigation is still ongoing within the colony and no official statements have been released.
