Non-Criminal Requirements:
Identify all involved parties – separate parties quickly, where applicable
Link all involved parties under the Involvement Tab in Niche
Domestic Occurrence Non Criminal Report – include history of relationship
Notify CAS if applicable
Provide the victim with an Intimate Partner Violence Information Pamphlet/Business Card with Officer’s name, Occurrence Number; Advice victim of Victim Services Branch and Victim Witness Assistance Program; offer to make initial contact with Victim Services Branch for safety planning information
Remain on scene until satisfied there is no further immediate threat to the victim
Offer place of safety
Criminal Charge Requirements:
Identify all involved parties – separate parties quickly where applicable
Assist any party in obtaining medical assistance, if necessary
Photos of Injuries – Arrange for photos to be taken at time of occurrence and 24 to 48hrs after incident.
Photos of damages(mischief)
Link all involved parties under the Involvement Tab in Niche
Interview Victim/Witnesses; BDL statement into Niche.
Any history of abuse/violence and stalking/criminal harassment
Any history of personal threats
Any concerns over the safety of the victim
Presence of, or access to firearms/firearm licence
Any previous use of weapons
Drug or alcohol abuse - accused
Mental health concerns – accused
General Report – include history, injuries, time of offence, time of arrest
E-tracker after arrest
DVRM – score if applicable
Notice to Victim of Crime (NTVOC)
CAS, if applicable
Check Suspect’s CPIC, CRFO,FIP and Constable – document in notes that checks have been completed
Seize Firearms/firearm licence if applicable
Offer place of safety – if taken to place of safety, email Place of Safety email
