When to tow:
Criminal Code Investigation
Recovered stolen Motor Vehicle and R/O cannot attend scene or arrange their own tow.
Recovered stolen Motor Vehicle and there is a hold for expert exam
Arrest without warrant
Interfere with traffic or snow removal
Vehicle abandoned with improper plates
Serious or fatal MVC / mechanical inspection
Abandon auto
Suspend Drive - Does not include Unpaid Fines or Medical Suspensions
Stunt Drive
Secure vs Non Secure tow:
Secure tow is used when Police are using their authority to tow a vehicle. A secure tow requires the Police to release the vehicle before the registered owner can pick it up from the impound lot (use when there is a hold on a vehicle)
Non Secure tow allows the registered owner to pick up the vehicle whenever they want (no hold required)
