Undertaking:
• Compels the Accused to Court
• Contains a Court Date and Print Date(Dual/Indictable Offences) if not printed prior to release
• Used when an Accused is brought to the Station after arrest
• Officers can add conditions pertaining to the safety of any Victims or Witnesses
• S/Sgt or Sgt will release the Accused
Patrol requirements:
Create the undertaking under the Accused in Niche.
Add any appropriate conditions required for the safety of the Victim and Witnesses.
After the Accused signs the Undertaking, make a copy for the accused and retain the original. Scan the signed Undertaking into the Niche Occurrence under the Accused with the BDL title “Undertaking – OIC/SIGNED”.
Task Records Releases to add to CPIC.
Send the original signed copy of the Undertaking to Case Prep through internal mail/Sgt’s box.
Call Records for a Future E-tracker.
*Remember for the last condition on the undertaking, “ l) You must comply with the follow conditions” can only be used for conditions for ensuring the safety and security of any victim of or witness to the alleged offence.
