Firearms

Certain weapons deemed not to be firearms: 

Sec 84 (3) For the purposes of sections 91 to 95, 99 to 101, 103 to 107 and

117.03 of this Act and the provisions of the Firearms Act, the following

weapons are deemed not to be firearms:

STORAGE OF FIREARMS

Non-Restricted:

1. Unloaded;

2.  It is 

   • rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device (trigger lock or breach lock); 

   • rendered inoperable by the removal of the bolt or bolt carrier;

   • stored in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and constructed so it cannot be easily broken open or into 

3.  Not readily accessible to ammunition, unless ammo is stored together or separately from the firearm, in a container or receptacle that is kept securely locked and constructed so that it is not easily broken into

Restricted:

1. Unloaded

2. It is

   • rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device (trigger lock or breach lock) and stored in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and constructed so it cannot be easily broken open or into

   • stored in a vault, safe or room that has been specifically constructed of modified for the secure storage of restricted firearms and that is kept securely locked

3.  Not readily accessible to ammunition, unless ammo is stored together or separately from the firearm, in;

•  in a container or receptacle that is kept securely locked and constructed so that it is not easily broken into

• a vault, safe or room that has been specifically constructed of modified for the secure storage of restricted firearms and that is kept securely locked
