Types of Warrants:
Warrant in the First: a warrant for arrest is issued before the accused is formally charged (Police could not locate the accused to arrest/charge them)
Bench Warrant: a warrant for arrest issued by a Judge or Justice of the Peace for an accused that failed to attend/re-attend court.

Patrol Requirements:
In the General Report, clearing state all the attempts to locate the accused. In most cases, more than one door knock is required. If the GOR does not reflect the effort made to locate the accused, the warrant will be denied.

EXECUTING ARREST WARRANTS
Patrol Requirements:
Warrant in the First
Supplementary report regarding how accused was located, details of the arrest
Notes / Will say
Hold accused for bail unless Undertaking is applicable (refer to GOR, CPIC, and Bail Op Form)
Call Records for Bail E-Tracker (or Future E-tracker if accused was able to be released)
Bench Warrant (executed warrants):
Endorsed Bench Warrant - Police have the authority to release the accused upon arrest and issue a new court date appearance
Supplementary report regarding how accused was located, details of the arrest
Call Records for to start a Future E-Tracker
Release accused on Appearance Notice ( just a new court date, not adding the fail to attend charge) or Undertaking (charging with the Fail to Attend)
Be sure to include all charges before the court on the Appearance Notice or Undertaking. For Example, Bench Warrant for Fail to Attend on shoplifting charges, add the original charges as well = FAIL TO ATTEND, THEFT UNDER, POSSESSION UNDER.
Update the Bail Op Form if it is more than 30 days old or if one was not created (Probation and Parole warrants)
Ensure CPICs are updated

Unendorsed Bench Warrant - Accused must be held in custody for a bail hearing. Police cannot release the accused
Supplementary report regarding how accused was located, details of the arrest

Ensure CPICs are updated
