This is a lazy version of a veggie burger. Rather than a patty it is crumble (where you do not waste time on creating the patty)
The ingredients are all there without the round patty
Veggies: cauliflower and broccoli florets, leeks (first time with leeks). Can use onions
Protein: Garbanzo from can, rinsed well. You can use other canned beans
Bread : brioche roll (Wegmans), you can use anything available
Spice: salt, pepper, chunky chat masala (Indian street food spice), pickled jalapenos, fresh coriander, chilli powder
Cooking sauce: Passata
Seasoning : mustard and cumin seeds (optional)
Cheese : sliced pepper jack cheese
Serving sauce: I used fresh Salsa. It was not a great choice. Grilled sandwich is quite dry. A cream sauce would definitely be an improvement. Or, maybe a dipping sauce
Servings: Planned for two but the filling is good for four servings
Garbanzo from a can, well rinsed
Smooshed with a fork instead of a processor
(clockwise) seeded brioche roll (wegmans), Chunky chat masala (Indian, street food spice), arugula (because I had it), passata, garbanzo/chickpea, cauli-florets, broco-florets, leeks (first time)
Heat pan (medium), add oil and let it get hot
optional: season with mustard and cumin seeds - Indian influence
Add cauli and broccoli florets
add salt , pepper and cover and cook
Add arugula and leeks and cook closed for 7 minutes - stirring often
Add passata, chunky chat masala, chilli powder, salt, a little water to coat the garbanzo
cover and cook
open lid and let it cool
Slice a little from the top of the roll
slice into two rounds
apply butter flavored spread to both sides of each slice
sliced pepper cheese to both slices
add the garbanzo mix to one side
Add pickled sliced jalapenos
fresh coriander
close and grill
Place in grill and spray oil or flavored butter
Done on the grill
Serve with sauce
