This is my first air fry/convection dish. The tofu is used in tofu fried rice
Tofu - extra firm (Wegmans - i tub)
Low sodium soy sauce
Sriracha
Apple cider vinegar
Canola oil spray (Wegmans)
Cut the tofu in cubes. Spread over paper towel to lessen the moisture. Pat with paper towel on top.
Preheat oven to 375 (F) degrees (convection oven setting).
Mix soy sauce, Sriracha, apple cider vinegar in a bowl. Do not need too much. You need to coat the tofu. The dregs are pickled Jalapenos ( I only had a very few pieces and hence it is not on the list above)
Add tofu and stir well to coat. Finally spray the canola oil lightly , toss and spray on the other side too. I am hoping this locks the sauce to the tofu and gives it a fry taste.
Arrange on the special air fryer tray for use with convection oven.
This was in the oven for 10 minutes. Not sure if it will brown further like in a skillet with additional time. There is no flour or breadcrumbs for browning.
Surprisingly it came out much better than I expected. It was soft, slightly crispy. Though smooth had a nice texture and held up well. An excellent addition to the fried rice
For snacking, the ones with the pickled Jalapenos was tasty (though a little hot).
