According to the Immigration Bureau’s regulations, all international students must formally cancel their Non-Immigrant ED visa upon graduation, resignation, or dismissal from SIIT. This requirement also applies to students who intend to pursue a higher degree at SIIT, other universities, or employment in Thailand; your current visa must be canceled before commencing new studies or work.
Students must visit the immigration office before graduation to cancel the visa. Failure to cancel your visa before graduation will result in an overstay, incurring a fine of 500 Baht per day, up to a maximum of 20,000 Baht for overstays, or may lead to being prohibited from entering Thailand, as stated in the Acknowledgement of Penalties for Visa Overstay (STM.9 form), which you have signed when extending your visa. Students are solely responsible for these fines.
We highly recommend students, to contact the International Affairs and Corporate Relations (IA&CR) division at the beginning of your final semester, to inform us of your expected graduation date so we can provide you with the appropriate guidance and necessary steps to follow.
