Student Exchange Program

1st semester/academic year 2024 

(August 2024 - December 2024)

Application

Q: What are the required documents?

A:    ▪ Application form 

▪ Letter of Application (Motivation Letter)

▪ Regulations for exchange students with a signature of an applicant

▪ Resume/CV

Transcript of record from your first year until current year (If you are a Master student, please also submit the transcript of your Bachelor’s degree.) 

▪ English Proficiency test score (TOEFL or IELTS, or an equivalent, or letter  confirming applicant’s English proficiency)

▪ Recommendation letter from an academic advisor

▪ A copy of passport (data page)

Q: How can I submit my application and required documents?

A:   Please submit the completed application and the required documents by email to chonticha@siit.tu.ac.th no later than the deadline. The application documents can be submitted by the international exchange coordinator or by the student. The documents must be combined into one PDF file per student.

 

Q: When is the deadline for application submission?

A:  15 May 2024 for the 1st semester/2024

15 October 2024 for the 2nd semester/2024

Q: My passport expires, can I submit the expired one?

A:  Please submit your old passport first. Then please make a new one and submit your new passport to SIIT later (at least 1 month prior to the first day of class).


Courses

Q: Where can I find a list of courses?

Q: Are there courses in Master level available for exchange students?

A: All of the courses available to exchange students are undergraduate courses.

Q: Is it possible for Master students to enroll in undergraduate courses?

A: Yes it is. Master students are able to take 30 percent of undergraduate courses. If you are a Master's student, please ensure that your school will accept credits earned from an undergraduate course.

Q: Will the list of courses that I filled out in the application be guaranteed to be officially enrolled?

A: The list of courses in the application is not course enrollment. Students will receive the course schedule 2 weeks before semester begins. 

Q: Is it possible to take courses in different programs?

A: Yes, it is.

 Fees

Q: Do I have to pay the tuition fee at SIIT?

A: Tuition fee is exempt for exchange students from SIIT partner university.

Q: Does SIIT provide scholarships for exchange students?

A: No

 

Acceptance Letter 

Q: When will I receive an acceptance letter?

A:  1st Semester/academic year 2024 - by June 15

     2ndSemester/academic year 2024  – by November 15

Q: Will I receive an original hard copy or a scanned letter?

A: SIIT will send a scanned letter to the exchange coordinator. Students have to submit the scanned letter to the Royal Thai Embassy for visa application. If the original hard copy is required by the embassy, we will send the original one via express airmail.


Housing 

Q: Does SIIT provide on-campus accommodation for exchange students?

A: On-campus accommodation is for full-time students only. Exchange students are recommended to stay at an off-campus dormitory.

Q: What type of accommodation do exchange students normally stay?

A: 1. Dormitory – There are a few dormitories that accept short-term stay.

    2. Condominium – Staying at a condominium is highly recommended by the exchange students in previous semesters.

Q: How can I get an accommodation?

A: You will receive a list of off-campus dormitories which accept a short-term stay from the International Office. Then you will be assisted in reserving a room. If students would like to stay at a condominium, students must directly contact the owner of the room by themselves.

Q: Do I have to transfer money for reservation?

A: Some dormitories require students to transfer money before moving in. Some dormitories do not require students to transfer money before moving in.

Q: How much do I have to pay for accommodation?

A: Approximately 5,000 – 12,000 Baht per month (excluding water supply and electricity fee). Room rental, water supply, and electricity fee must be paid every month. Most dormitories require a room deposit fee to be paid when signing a contract. The room deposit fee will return when checkout.

Q: Can I stay in Bangkok?

A: Exchange students are recommended to stay nearby the campus because class attendance is required. Since SIIT is located in Pathum Thani province, traveling from Bangkok to the campus may take at least 1 hour. 



Visa

Q: What type of visa do I have to apply for?

A: Non-immigrant ED visa ONLY

Q: Can I enter Thailand with a tourist visa?

A: No.

Q: How long can I stay in Thailand?

A: When you first arrive, you will be able to stay in Thailand for 90 days. Then you are required to extend your visa. Duration of your stay after extending the visa is until the end of your exchange semester 

After extending the visa, the visa will be valid until early January 2025 (exact date will be informed later)

Q: Can I extend my visa after completing the exchange program at SiIT?

A: The Non-immigrant ED visa cannot be extended if your exchange program has completed.
