Buddy System

The Buddy System consists of a Thai undergraduate student pairing up with an exchange student. Undergraduate students who are sophomores, juniors, and seniors in any program are eligible to apply for the Buddy System. The Buddy System participants were selected through interviews by the International office. The selected buddies assisted inbound exchange students during their stay in Thailand. One Thai buddy is paired up with one exchange student. 

Roles and responsibilities of the buddy 

1. Send a warm welcome message via Email/Facebook/Line to the exchange student before the exchange student arrives in Thailand 

2. Provide more information about the accommodation and help the exchange student reserve a dormitory

3. Pick up the exchange student at the airport

4. Accompany the exchange student to the dormitory and help the buddy with the check-in process

5. Accompany the exchange student to shop for household items

6. Provide information about the facilities on campus, transportation to the exchange student

7. Participate in activities organized by the SIIT such as cultural trips, international nights, and Thai cooking classes with the exchange student

8. Organize welcome activities for new exchange students such as campus tours

FAQ for applicants

1. I am not an SIIT student, can I apply for this program?

Answer: Only SIIT student in undergraduate level (2nd year - 4th year) can apply for the Buddy System.


2. When will the exchange students will arrive in Thailand?

Answer: At least 1 week before the semester starts.
